Sustainability
How Honorarfinanz Integrates Sustainability Risks into its Portfolio Strategies
Sustainability risks are events or conditions in the areas of environment, social affairs, or corporate governance (ESG: Environment, Social, Governance) which could have a material adverse impact on the value of the investment. We are required by law to provide the following information. We do not intend to actively promote environmental or social characteristics within our investment strategies or for any other specific financial instruments:
Honorarfinanz aims to contribute to a more sustainable and resource-efficient economy, with the particular goal of mitigating the risks and impacts of climate change. In addition to taking sustainability objectives into account within our own internal organisation, we regard it as our responsibility to raise our clients’ awareness of sustainability aspects in the course of our business relationships with them. Within the scope of asset management and investment advice — but not within so-called execution-only business — we ask our clients about their relevant views and preferences and then implement them accordingly.
Environmental conditions, social disruptions and/or poor corporate governance may have an adverse impact on the value of our clients’ investments and assets in several respects. Such sustainability risks may have a direct effect on the assets, financial position and earnings situation, as well as on the reputation of the investment objects.
We do not currently pursue an autonomous sustainability strategy. However, when selecting financial investments, we take into account the information made available by the issuer. At present, the technical regulatory standards of the European Supervisory Authorities are still lacking, which would be required to examine in detail what adverse impacts on sustainability factors exist and how these can be incorporated into the advisory process. Due to the currently limited information available, these aspects are not, at this time, taken into account in advice as a matter of course. However, the principal adverse impacts of investment decisions on sustainability factors are discussed during the advisory process. We are monitoring further developments and will, in due course, develop our own sustainability strategy and, in particular, take adverse impacts on sustainability factors into account in our advice.
Statement on the Consideration of Adverse Impacts on Sustainability Factors
For asset management and investment advice. We are required by law to provide the following information:
- Investment decisions may have adverse impacts on the environment (e.g. climate, water, biodiversity), on social and employee matters, and may also be detrimental to the fight against corruption and bribery.
- We have, in principle, a substantial interest in fulfilling our responsibility as a financial services provider and contributing to avoiding such impacts in our investment decisions (or investment recommendations). However, in the current state of affairs, the implementation of the legal requirements set out for this purpose is unreasonable in view of the existing and impending bureaucratic conditions. Moreover, key legal questions remain unresolved.
- In order to avoid legal disadvantages, we are therefore currently prevented from making a public declaration as to whether and in what manner we take account of the adverse impacts on sustainability factors (environmental matters, etc.) within the scope of our investment decisions (or investment recommendations). Accordingly, we are obliged to declare on our website that, for the time being and pending further clarification, we do not take these into account.
- We expressly state, however, that this approach does not affect our willingness to contribute to a more sustainable, resource-efficient economy, with the particular aim of mitigating the risks and impacts of climate change and other environmental or social grievances.
